The life and times of David Malin, the world's most famous astronomy-photographer.  Malin unveils the cosmos as if our eyes were a thousand times more sensitive.  He unlocks the secrets of starlight.  His key is colour.  Working through giant telescopes at the Anglo-Australian Observatory, New South Wales, Malin’s ingenious camerawork and dark-room techniques enable astronomers to decipher distance, movement, structure and elements - the evolution of our galactic neighbourhood.  His work prompted a re-think of the way galaxies develop.  The Man Who Colours Stars interweaves photography, science and biography.

The documentary won top festival award at Italy’s Prix Leonardo International Film Festival in 1997.
